With a new chapter in my life and a renewed conviction to keeping up my blog, I figured this would be the perfect time to re-introduce myself for anyone who’s new here!
My name is Marissa, and I’m a first-year law student (1L) in the Bay Area. I moved to California in the middle of the pandemic, so I’m just trying to figure out how to survive law school on Zoom with my mental health intact. Because I’m a first-generation law student, at times I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. But, that’s also the reason why I’m so eager to share my experiences with anyone who is going through the same thing or who is interested in attending law school in the future.
I was born and raised in Utah, and I dedicated most of my life to ballroom dancing until I graduated from college. I’m passionate about fashion, fitness, food, and travel. Now that I’m in law school, I don’t feel like I have much free time. But when I do, I love finding creative outlets like decorating my apartment, putting together a charcuterie board, baking a cake, or teaching myself about videography.
My fiancé’s name is Aaron. We’re getting married in June 2021 since our wedding was postponed last summer because of the pandemic, and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re enjoying the small amount of California that we’ve experienced so far, and we’re so excited to start building our lives and careers here.
I’ve always enjoyed writing and have blogged on and off since high school. Now that I’m away from my family and friends, reviving on my blog seemed like a great way to stay connected with them and to connect with new friends. Whoever you are, I’m happy you’re here!
