After a busy graduation weekend, I jumped right into my summer internship last week. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work in-house with the legal team at a fintech company that is doing great things for entrepreneurs.
My final interview was first thing in the morning the day after I got back from being in Boston for spring break, and it included a presentation, an interview with the GC, and a final wrap-up with the hiring manager. Funny story, when I got home the power had been out for more than a day because of extreme winds, and we had no warm water. So I was very grateful for dry shampoo and the fact that my interviews were on Zoom.
The areas of law I’m most interested in are financial services and corporate law, I couldn’t ask for a better internship. I keep telling Aaron that I can’t believe how lucky I am to have this opportunity.
Fun fact: I took this photo right before I got on a call with the recruiters where they officially gave me a job offer!
Portland Onboarding
This past week I started my internship with onboarding at the Portland office. The onboarding cohort was a mix of interns and full-time employees from around the country. Since we work primarily remotely with the option to go into the office if you live near one, it was nice to meet people from other departments in person.
Our days were mostly filled with general onboarding sessions, and there were fun social activities planned for every evening after work. We had a nice group dinner, an axe-throwing and pizza night, and a trip to a cute boba shop.
Next week I’ll be jumping into work with the legal team, and then my team will be going to New York for an onsite at the office there.
