Last week we celebrated my law school graduation! Technically, I haven’t officially graduated yet because I added the MBA program. So I won’t be quite done until December, but luckily I was able to walk early with my law school class because there aren’t any graduation festivities in December.
Last fall, Aaron started planning a big surprise weekend and invited our families and my closest friends. Here I was thinking it would just be the two of us with my parents maybe going out to dinner, when we ended up having 12 people fly in to celebrate with us. I was so touched and humbled to have people in my life who were willing to travel to be there for me this weekend.
San Francisco Giants Game
Being the extra person that I am, I made a PDF of the weekend itinerary for everyone so they could have information about all the weekend’s events in one place. Pictured here is the overview of the week’s events, and then I also made pages for each day that included more details on things like ticketing. parking, dress code, etc.
Because we had people traveling to be here, we wanted to plan some fun activities on top of the commencement ceremony. On Friday, the SF Giants were playing at home, and there was even a fireworks show after the game. I always forget how cold San Francisco is, but I love going to games at Oracle Park for the view.
Commencement & Dinner Party
On Saturday, commencement was bright and early at 9:30 a.m. Between the late baseball game the night before and then having to get ready and be at the school a couple of hours early (not to mention all the driving), I didn’t get much sleep. But on-brand with the law school experience, caffeine came to the rescue and kept me going. After commencement, it was a bit of a hectic afternoon to get set up for the party we had planned that evening.
For the dinner party, the invitation asked everyone to dress up in cocktail attire which made it feel extra special. The setup turned out so nice, and we arranged for a catered dinner that was delicious! Aaron surprised me by giving a really sweet toast to honor my accomplishments and everything I’ve sacrificed to get through law school. It was such a fun night to have family and friends from out of town together with our California friends. I didn’t have my phone with me throughout the night, and I’m sad that I wasn’t able to get pictures with everyone that came. A huge thank you to those who came and made me feel so loved!
Now here’s to making it through my final semester of the JD/MBA program in the fall and moving on to studying for the Bar exam!
